PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The ultimate hunting knife! The RazorPro is a double-bladed knife for big game with our patented replacement razor-blade knife on one side, plus gutting blade on the other to open game like a zipper. This is the sharpest, strongest, replacement razor-knife available with blades that change safely and easily at the push of a button. The black-oxide coated blade holder supports the razor-blade for the strength of a standard knife and sharpness of a surgeon’s scalpel. Our signature gutting blade cuts underneath the skin without cutting hair, or piercing internal organs that can spoil fresh game meat. Both blades open and close independently with one hand and lock securely. The Razor-Pro comes complete with six 3.5” Japanese 420J2 stainless replacement blades and a nylon sheath with pockets to hold both the knife and spare blades. Replacement packs of 6 blades are sold separately. Rubberized TPR handles are available in black with a black nylon sheath and blaze-orange with KRYPTEK® camo sheath. The blaze-orange handle is easy to spot on the ground, saving valuable time in the field while preventing loss.
I got this knife new at bass pro. I've had a swing blade for couple years and love it. I had bought this knife less then a year ago. The razor blade came off when using it cleaning a deer a few times. Not very safe to use. Hopefully they fix this problem in the future. I do not recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Not sure what is going on with your blade retention, but this is covered under our warranty. We will be reaching out to make sure you are properly taken care of.
Knife has really sharp blades but the design is such that as I hold knife to clean deer the blade comes loose every so often. Kinda dangerous so I switched back to a solid body knife. I suspect my finger grasping handle pushes down on release button.
I love this knife. I have gutted and skinned dozens of deer and antelope with the Razor Pro. However, I am having issues with two things: 1) the replaceable blade was falling out so I took it apart, cleaned, reassembled, and tightened screws to make it work and now it is difficult to quickly replace the blade and 2) the gutting blade is getting dull and needs sharpened but I am inept at sharpening a curved blade. I want to keep using the Razor Pro but think I need some assistance from Outdoor Edge.
Hey Ken-Thank you for the review and expressing a couple concerns. If you are still having issues with the blade retention please reach out to our warranty/customer service department and they can get you taken care of. Please call 1-888-249-6942. As for the gutting blade getting dull, this is a hollow grind which requires a wheel to sharpen. You should be able to bring it to any kitchen knife store that offers sharpening service and they can out a new edge on that.
Brought one had it for a year, loved it. Then it stopped working properly, wouldn’t lock blade which was dangerous . Wrote for a replacement and they said it was in the post, never turned up. I emailed them 7 times with no reply.
Deane-We will be reaching out and making sure we get you taken care of.
Used 2 blades on 1 blacktail. Edges go away way to fast. Gut blade stayed sharp but was disappointed in how fast the sharp edge dulls on the replaceable blades. Will be selling mine and going back to a fixed blade that keeps an edge.
The steel in our RazorSafe knives is Japanese 420J2, which can be considered a softer steel compared to higher end traditional knives. However, you can touch up a blade with a ceramic honing rod if you do not want to replace the blade mid-job. Feel free to reach out to our customer service team if you have any other questions about our system.
